Supporting Those Who Served — Naples & Southwest Florida

Neighborhood Attendants proudly supports Veterans and their families in Naples and throughout Southwest Florida. We work with eligible Veterans who qualify for VA-funded in-home support through the Veteran-Directed Care (VDC) program — allowing Veterans to choose trusted local providers for non-medical homemaker and companionship services.

We understand the unique needs of Veterans and the importance of maintaining independence, dignity, and routine at home. Our caregivers provide reliable, compassionate support with the respect and professionalism our Veterans deserve.

What is Veteran-Directed Care (VDC)?

The Veteran-Directed Care program is a VA initiative that gives eligible Veterans the ability to self-direct their own care — choosing their own caregivers and providers rather than being assigned one. This means eligible Veterans can use VA-allocated funds to pay for trusted, local providers like Neighborhood Attendants.

Veteran Controls Their Care

The Veteran (or their representative) chooses who provides care, when, and how — giving them full control and dignity.

VA Pays Directly

Approved VA funds are used to pay for services — no out-of-pocket cost for eligible Veterans.

Local, Trusted Providers

Veterans choose from local providers they trust rather than being assigned through a larger agency.

Non-Medical Support

Services include companion care, light housekeeping, meal prep, errands, and daily living support.

How to Get Started

We're happy to help guide Veterans and families through the VDC process. Here's the general path to getting started:

  1. Contact your VA care team or local VA office to ask about Veteran-Directed Care eligibility
  2. Work with a VA-approved Area Agency on Aging (AAA) or Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) to enroll
  3. Once enrolled, you select Neighborhood Attendants as your provider
  4. We create a personalized care plan and begin services

Important Note:

Neighborhood Attendants does not bill the VA directly. Eligible Veterans use VDC-allocated funds through an approved fiscal management service to pay for our services. We are happy to answer questions and help families understand the process during a free consultation.
